Objective: 

This course will enable students to understand and develop personal growth, empathy, mindfulness, creativity, and decision-making skills while focusing on fostering a growth mindset, enhancing empathy and compassion, practicing mindfulness, stimulating creativity, and taking responsibility for personal decisions.

Introduction to Mindset theory; Overview and characteristics of fixed and growth mindset. Themes for experiential learning will be: Embracing challenges, cultivating curiosity, Collaboration with others, seeking out feedback, Focusing on efforts

Empathy and Compassion:

Introduction to empathy and compassion; How do empathy and compassion affect our relationships with others.

Themes for experiential learning: Active listening, Learning about different cultures and backgrounds, Volunteering, Practicing self-compassion, Gratitude exercises

Mindfulness:

Introduction to mindfulness, The role of intention, attention and attitude in mindfulness, The relationship between body and mind.

Themes for experiential learning: Identifying and labeling emotions, RAIN technique, STOP technique, Cultivating positive self-talk, Guided meditation, Mindful movement

Creativity and Flow:

The relationship between flow and creativity, Factors influencing creativity and flow state, Role of flow in motivation and achievement

Themes for experiential learning: Incorporating play into daily activities, Stimulation of senses, Creative exercises, Brainstorming sessions, Setting the right environment

Taking responsibility for one’s decisions:

Introduction to the process of decision-making, Attribution and biases in decision-making
